For small and medium businesses

Know when your website stops working, before your customers tell you

UptimeTwin checks the things your business relies on online, like your website, online booking and mail server, and emails you when one of them stops working.

Five examples from five kinds of business

How five different businesses could set it up, and which plan each one needs.

Example 1

Dental or medical practice

What you rely on
Patients book appointments on your website and sign in to a patient portal between visits.
What you set up
A website check on the booking page and on the portal’s sign-in page. A certificate check on each one, which watches the certificate behind the padlock in the browser.
When something breaks
If either page stops loading, you get an email about a minute after the first failed check. Two weeks before a certificate runs out, you get a warning, then a reminder each day until it is renewed.
Plan
FreeFour monitors, checked every 5 minutes.
Example 2

Restaurant or cafe

What you rely on
A website where customers read the menu and order for pickup, and the web address it lives at, which has to be renewed before it runs out.
What you set up
A website check on the menu page and on the ordering page. A domain check, which keeps track of when your web address is due for renewal.
When something breaks
If the ordering page stops loading, you get an email about a minute after the first failed check. About two weeks before the web address runs out, you get a reminder by email each day until it is renewed.
Plan
ProThe renewal reminder needs Pro. The website checks on their own work on Free.
Example 3

Online shop

What you rely on
Customers find products, open them and buy them, at any hour of the day.
What you set up
A step-by-step check that opens your home page, runs a search and opens a product page, like a customer would, and checks each page shows what it should. Plus a public status page you can share with customers.
When something breaks
If a step keeps failing, you get an email that says which step broke. On Pro, the alert can also go to your team chat, such as Slack or Microsoft Teams.
Plan
ProStep-by-step checks and status pages start on Pro, which checks as often as every minute.
Example 4

Accounting or law office

What you rely on
A client portal where clients send you documents, your own mail server, and a backup of client files every night.
What you set up
A website check on the client portal, and a check that your mail server is answering. A check-in for the backup: whoever looks after your IT adds a small step at the end of it, so it lets us know each time it finishes.
When something breaks
If the portal or the mail server stops answering, you get an email about a minute after the first failed check. If the backup misses its check-in, you get an email too.
Plan
ProThe backup check-in needs Pro. The portal and mail server checks work on Free.
Example 5

Manufacturer or warehouse

What you rely on
The remote-access address staff use to reach office systems from home or on the road, a site where customers track orders, and a stock update that runs every night.
What you set up
A check that the remote-access address is answering, and a website check on the tracking site. A check-in for the nightly stock update: a small step at the end of the job lets us know it finished.
When something breaks
If the address or the tracking site stops answering, or the stock update misses its check-in, you get an email. If nobody acknowledges the outage within the time you choose, a second person gets an email too.
Plan
BusinessThe second contact comes with Business, which can also check every 30 seconds, or costs $3 a month on Free, Hobby and Pro. Everything else here works on Pro.

Start with your own website

A good first step is your website and the one page your customers use most. Free covers up to 25 monitors, with no card.

How it works

1
Add what you want watched
Sign up and add the addresses of your website, your booking page or anything else people reach over the internet. There is nothing to install.
2
We check it around the clock
Our servers check each one over the internet: every 5 minutes on Free, and as often as every minute on Pro or every 30 seconds on Business.
3
You hear about real problems
A failed check is re-checked within seconds, and it has to fail three times in a row (you can change the number) before we email you. When it works again, you get an all-clear email too.

Good to know

What a diagnosis saves you

When something stops working, the first job is finding out why. The AI write-up that follows the alert does that first look for you: it runs the checks someone would run first, such as whether your web address still points to the right place and whether the server answers, and says in plain words what to check first.

So the saving is a sum you can do yourself: the time that first look takes whoever fixes it (say, the first 15 minutes of each outage), at the hourly rate you already pay them, whether that is your own IT person, an agency or a contractor.

An example, not a measurement
What you pay for IT help (example rate)
$80 an hour
The first look at each outage (example time)
15 minutes
Saved on each outage, in this example
$20

With your own numbers: your hourly rate, times the minutes, divided by 60, for each outage that gets a write-up. The write-up comes within your plan's AI allowance. It is guidance, not a guarantee, so someone still confirms the cause before changing anything.
